Downstream Process Development Scientist – Oxford
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Downstream Process Development Scientist to join an innovative and entrepreneurial biotechnology company based in Oxford. As an organisation they offer advanced services and products to the international gene therapy and biologics market. They are currently enjoying a time of significant growth and they have recently expanded their state-of-the art laboratories, so it’s an ideal time to be joining the team.
As a DSP Scientist you will be involved in range of projects with a focus on both internal platform development and commercial projects- building on establishing process development expertise for therapeutic proteins and viral vectors.
-Lead and conduct scalable processes for primary recovery and product purification, including statistical work for process design and specification (DOE and QbD)
-Interact with internal and external stakeholders to define project goals and deliver laboratory work.
-Support technology transfer activities.
-Maintaining an extensive knowledge of developments in the field and keeping up to date with literature.
-Training junior members of staff.
-Perform data analysis and author SOPs/technical reports.
-MSc or PhD in a relevant subject- chemical/biochemical engineering, cell biology etc.
-Several years’ commercial laboratory experience within the life sciences industry.
-Extensive experience of TFF, ultracentrifugation and AKTA (affinity, IEX and SEC.
-Experience of downstream process development for mammalian systems including viral vectors (essential) and therapeutic proteins.
-An engineering mindset with an ability to use statistical approaches to optimise processes.
