Senior Scientist- Cell Therapy Product Development- Scotland
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Scientist / Scientist in Cell Therapy Product Development to join a leading cell therapy company based in Scotland. As an organisation their focus is on developing innovative cell based products for treatment of cancer, and they conduct GMP manufacturing through to clinical research, in-house. With continued growth, funding and success it is an ideal time to be joining them.
As a Senior Scientist you will join the Product Development Team and you will report directly to the Head of Development and Principle Scientist. You will work across Process Development and develop assays/protocols for new cell therapy products. Key responsibilities will include-
-Troubleshoot and optimise cell culture processes and contribute to the establishment of novel cell culturing processes
-Development of genetically modified immune cells.
-Training and supervising junior team members.
-Perform cell culture of primary immune cells, cancer cells and immortalised cell lines
-Perform functional cell based assays such as cytotoxicity assays and proliferation assays.
-Design and perform multiparameter flow cytometry experiments
-Perform immunological assays such as Luminex and intracellular cytokine assays
-Perform lentiviral transduction experiments of various immune cells
-Participate in the design, production and optimisation of new lentiviral vectors for use in research projects.
-Perform molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to primer design, miRNA and RNA isolation and quantitative PCR assays.
-Carry out literature reviews /collate information to identify information useful for the development of novel assays or the improvement of current processes.
Opportunities are available within the team at Scientist and Senior Scientist level.
To be considered for this position you must be educated to minimum of BSc level in a relevant subject such as immunology or cell biology. This educational background will be coupled with extensive experience of mammalian cell culture, cell based assay development and flow cytometry. In addition to this you will have experience in molecular biology techniques and the transduction/transfection of primary cells. A research background in the cell or gene therapy industries would be regarded.
