Statistical Epidemiologist/ Senior Scientist
There is a great opportunity for a statistical epidemiologist to conduct real-world statistical analyses working with a world-leading bioinformatics organisation based in Cambridge. A successful applicant will work on analysing real-world data (RWD) using electronic health records (EHRs). This will include planning and undertaking complex statistical analyses of longitudinal data with repeated measures to assess epidemiological associations between multiple exposures and disease outcomes. They will also provide statistical input into protocols, study reports and papers for publication.
An ideal candidate will have substantial experience in data harmonisation and statistical analysis of large-scale RWD from electronic health record databases in the UK, informed by an understanding of the structure and format of these databases. They should be able to work independently to plan and deliver statistical analyses, as well as devise the statistical methodology for observational research projects. Furthermore, they should be able to evaluate existing statistical methods in different data contexts.
*To provide statistical analysis, input and support of research studies including:
oPlanning the statistical analyses of longitudinal real-world data, including identification of appropriate research questions and statistical methods
oData harmonisation and curation of complex heterogeneous data
oConducting data analyses including complex statistical analyses of multi-level clustered data
oProviding statistical input into study protocols including statistical methodology, analysis plans, study design and sample size/power calculations
oLeading in the generation and interpretation of results, and writing manuscripts for peer-review publication
*To liaise with relevant members of the group and study collaborators regarding the statistical methodology and results generated
*To plan, organise and schedule own day-to-day work to ensure that objectives relating to statistical aspects of the project are met
*A degree in medical statistics or a related discipline, with sufficient breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in statistics and clinical epidemiology
*Substantial experience of conducting statistical analyses with large RWD/EHR datasets in the UK e.g. from CPRD, THIN, ResearchOne, QResearch
*Substantial experience of conducting statistical analyses with large-scale longitudinal epidemiological data
*Extensive experience in data manipulation, curation and merging
*Experience of providing statistical input into study protocols including analysis plans, study design and sample size/power calculations
*Substantial experience conducting epidemiological analyses in R or equivalent software
*Knowledge and understanding of the structure and format of EHR databases including coding systems used in the UK to record clinical data
*Previous experience of generating and interpreting results, and writing manuscripts for reports and peer-review publications
